 Google Unveils Pixel 6 and Its First Custom Mobile Processor

The Pixel phones first launched in 2016, leaving the Nexus brand behind that earned its place in many users heart. But this time it looks like Google will take Pixel Phones more seriously. Google just released the first official details of the Pixel 6  and Pixel 6 Pro, which is housing Google's first custom mobile SoC, known as Tensor.

The leaks around the internet around the Pixel 6 appearing are pretty accurate. The new Pixel have two-tone back panels, along with that a full width of camera bump behind the phone. As of now, we don't know the full camera specifications or even a few specs. According to Google, in this phone the sensor is much larger than previous devices, so they needed to move to the "Camera Bar" design. The non-pro will have a standard and ultrawide setup, and the pro will have a standard, ultrawide and 4x telephoto. The phones sizes are on the larger side. The pro has a 6.67inch OLED and the and non-Pro will be having a 6.4 inches displays. Both are 120Hz and have an Under-display fingerprint sensor(also first time from Google).

The new Tensor chip inside Pixel 6 won't be Google's first custom part, but it will the first one designed for phones. Google has shrunk the Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) form its servers to built an AI-first chip for phones. We don't know much about the SoC or anything about the core counts, GPU speed, modem capabilities, or even clock speed. We know this much that the Tensor chip will enable various on-device AI features that will not work on any other android phone.

These phones will launch with Android 12 out of the box with Google's new Material You interface as Google is calling it.

A few people have been allowed to touch the new phones but not to take pictures of them. According to them, the phones fell high-end in a way Google Pixels have not in recent years. By all accounts, Google is talking its phone business seriously this time around. Now, let us see what Google is coming up with the new Pixel and what are the new improvements that Google is so excited about.
